Thanks to Chunky B of Eclectorama, I was able to get my hands on the new version of Commander Bacara. I already have Commander Bacara from way back in the Revenge of the Sith days (five years ago, if you can believe it), but that had the "quick draw" action feature. The gimmick was that if you squeeze the legs, the arms move up. Unfortunately, that limits the poseability somewhat, so I was glad when they released a version of Bacara without the gimmick. Of course, that was in a battle pack that I never even saw on the shelf. So I was even more glad when they re-released him as a single carded figure. Now he comes with the smaller blaster rather than the large blaster rifle.
Commander Bacara was actually onscreen in Revenge of the Sith, so you may or may not remember him as one of Ki-Adi Mundi's troops that executed Order 66. It's a cool figure, in that it's a fairly distinctive looking clone, and it's well articulated.

#9: G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra - Cobra Eel
So I was in Target and noticed that the G.I. Joe movie stuff is going on clearance. Well, some of it anyway. The Pit is currently half off, and there were a couple RHINOs I hadn't seen on the shelves before also for half off (they're gone now). I can't resist a good deal, and 4 bucks for a figure is definitely a good deal, so I figured, I have Deep Six, why not get him a Cobra nemesis? So now I have the Cobra Eel.
As you probably know by now, these Joe movie figures are all pretty well made and the Eel is no exception. He's well accessorized with a big harpoon gun, and a pistol and knife that have holsters on his legs. And the fins are removable. There's also a removable airtank on his back that plugs into the back of his head. The giant missile launcher he comes with has handles and little fold out wings. It kind of looks like a torpedo, but with the handles, I figure it's some means of propulsion. Like those guys were using in Thunderball. I think of all the Joe figures I have, this one has the least amount of paint on it. As you can see, he's almost entirely black. Aside from the obvious red shoulders, there is some grey at the top of the vest, and the rings are painted as well. Good for hiding in the depths, I suppose.

Day 18
Filling out the mail-order form for Nahdar Vebb.
So in case you didn't know, Hasbro is currently running another mail-order offer for Star Wars. The usual shebang, send in some UPCs, a check, wait 6-8 weeks, and bam, you have yourself a new figure. Nahdar Vebb is a Mon Cal Jedi that appeared in one episode. Until Hasbro gets around to making a new Admiral Ackbar figure, he'll fill trap warning duties around here.

#8: Star Wars Clone Wars Jek
I got Jek here on the same trip that I got Bly, but didn't get around to posting about him. I'm getting a little behind here, so let's check out another clone trooper. He's from the first episode of The Clone Wars, "Ambush." He's your basic clone figure, with a removable helmet, a bandolier, and holsters for his twin blasters. Oddly, there is a tattoo of some sort on the back of his head. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, so I guess it's just a pattern. Jek's not the most flashy trooper, but definitely a good addition to your ranks.

Day 15
Ready for my close up.
It's kind of surprising how much stuff you notice when looking at a blown up picture of a figure that you wouldn't notice otherwise. With my bare eye, I can't even see some of those dots on his face, like those right above the eyes.

#7: Star Wars Clone Wars Commander Bly
Wow, it's been about three weeks since the last time I got any new toys. It seems like it's been forever. I went to Target today, and they had this new wave of Clone Wars figures out, so here we are. It's Commander Bly, Aayla Secura's second in command. He was in the movie, you can see him gunning her down on Feleucia. Obviously, he's also shown up in the cartoon, which is why he gets this figure.
When the clone troopers first showed up, it was kind of weird thinking of the guys in white armor as the good guys, since I grew up with the Stormtroopers as bad guys. Now kids are growing up with the Clone Wars cartoon as their primary source of Star Wars entertainment, so I wonder if they think it's weird seeing the guys in white armor as bad guys when they watch the original trilogy. I wonder what it's like to grow up with the entire saga complete.

Day 7
Halftime. For the record, I prefer the kind of football in which all the players on the team touch the ball with their foot.

Day 4
Big news! The AT-AT was officially announced today via a Hasbro press release, and it will cost 100 bucks. I was afraid it would cost more than that, so that is welcome news. I'm expecting pictures come Toy Fair. ARFie is taking the AT-ST on a joy ride to celebrate.

Day 1: Welcome to ARFebruary
For the past few years, I've been doing a project in which I take and post a picture for each day in February. The most recent two years have featured toy themes (clone troopers, and Captain Rex) and I am keeping up that theme this year with the ARF Trooper. As such, I have dubbed this year's endeavor "ARFebruary". Since this is my toy blog, I figured it would be appropriate to showcase here. So for the rest of the month, there will be a new picture of the ARF Trooper posted here.
I was thinking of doing a Bizarro theme, but I figured the cape might get in the way if I want to do sitting shots, much like Captain Rex's skirt did last year. Star Wars figures are also easier to cart around due to their compact size. The ARF Trooper also has lateral hip movement, which helped put him in the running. So, enjoy ARFebruary!
