#124: World of Nintendo - K.K. Slider

I was checking out Target to see if there were any good post-Christmas deals, and found some new World of Nintendo mini figures. I don't really keep close tabs on this line, so it was a nice surprise to find K.K. Slider from the Animal Crossing series. He moves at the neck and shoulders and has his guitar case on his back. Since K.K. Slider typically appears in game on Saturday nights, it's appropriate that my last post of the year is about him and is being posted on a Saturday night. Thanks for reading, everyone. See you next year, and I promise not to let myself get months behind on posting like I have the past two years.

#123: Marvel Legends - Heroes For Hire (Ghost Rider)

I should have bought this figure when it first came out a few months ago, because it ended up being pretty hard to find. Probably due to Ghost Rider appearing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., although that is the Robbie Reyes version, and this figure is the classic Johnny Blaze. If nothing else, Ghost Rider is one of the coolest looking characters ever because his head is a skull on fire. Good luck finding a better look than that. Naturally, the best part of this figure is the head. It's translucent orange plastic, with the bone painted on. It catches the light and give Ghost Rider glowing eyes well. Also, the jaw is articulated, which is always a neat touch. There is a chain around his chest, but that's as close to an accessory that's included. Now I just need to find a 1/12 scale motorcycle for him.

#122: LEGO - Birthday Table Decoration (40153)

So this is kind of a weird little set. It's a birthday table decoration. Not a cake topper! The box specifically states that it is for "table decoration only." Basically it's a cake that a jester can pop out of, like you see strippers doing in movies. The jester is a half minifigure (no legs) that sits on one end of a lever. Pushing down on the other end causes the top of the cake and the jester to rise. There are pieces to customize the number corresponding to the age of the person whose birthday is being celebrated, with a range of one to ninety nine. Since it's nowhere near my birthday, I opted to go with 42 for display purposes.

#121: Marvel Legends - The Punisher

Here we go with another Walgreens exclusive, Marvel Legends Punisher. The timing of the release seemed close enough to be cashing in on his appearance in the second season of Daredevil, and he's a fairly prominent character, so why make him an exclusive? I'm guessing is's so that he wouldn't be packaged with a build-a-figure piece, and so more accessories could be budgeted in. They did the same for Deadpool, but included him in a standard retail series, so who knows. Either way, the accessories are where the Punisher really shines. He's got the same bazooka as Deadpool (but no boxing glove), a huge machine gun, an inexplicably white shotgun, and two heads. The head that is attached in the packaging is the Jim Lee style 80s head with a Rambo headband, while the other head makes it look like Frank had some bad seafood for lunch.  Oddly for a guy who mostly uses guns, this Punisher's hands don't have trigger fingers extended. He can still hold them, at least.

#120: Star Wars The Black Series - Imperial Hovertank Pilot

Another new Stormtrooper variant from Rogue One, the Imperial Hovertank Pilot is a Toys R Us exclusive. Except for the paint and the helmet, it's basically the same figure as the shoretrooper. I guess the Death Troopers are the only new Imperial forces that care about protecting their thighs with armor. Oddly, of the new Imperial figures so far, this is the only one with the standard Stormtrooper blaster. I think we only actually see one of these troopers in the movie, so that makes him unique.

#119: Ultimate Spider-Man Minimates - Jet-pack Spider-Man and Squirrel Girl

I've only watched the first season of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, because that's all that was on Netflix at the time. Apparently, it has improved by including Squirrel Girl so I might have to go back and watch the rest of it. This set is a Walgreens exclusive, and it still continues to seem weird that Walgreens gets so many cool exclusives. While there has recently been a Squirrel Girl Funko Pop, this is the first actual action figure for her. In the show she wears her classic costume, so that's what she's wearing here, complete with weird eye makeup. The packaging calls out that it "includes squirrels!" and there are three of them. They have Minimates style cylindrical heads, even. There are a couple accessories (not pictured) that I am a bit mystified about. They kind of look like ice cream cones, but I really have no clue. Also included is Spider-Man, with a jet pack. It has a nice flame effects piece that doubles as a stand. He also has an alternate "thumbs up" hand and another head with larger eyes.

#118: Transformers Titans Return - Astrotrain & Darkmoon

Astrotrain is one of the Transformers toys I had as a kid, and I thought it was cool both because it was a triple changer as well as because one of its alt-modes was a space shuttle. I didn't get around to getting the Classics version from a while back, so I was glad that there's a new version. Getting this one was a bit convoluted, as at first it wasn't in stock in stores or online for a reasonable price. Then I found one on the Target website while there was a sale going on as well as a toys coupon, so I was able to order it for store pickup at a good price. Then I got an e-mail saying the order was delayed and would not arrive until early January. Then they started showing up in stores, but I had a much better price on the order so I didn't want to cancel it. Finally, it ended up arriving earlier than the original postponement warned. Astrotrain's robot mode is pretty cool. He's got a couple guns which can be combined into one as pictured. There's a definite resemblance to the original toy's robot mode.

Putting the "astro" in his name, one of the alt-modes is a space shuttle. This looks a lot more sci-fi and flattened than the original, but it's cool. There are a few options for how to attach the guns in this mode. There is a seat for Darkmoon in the back between the tail fins.

Less impressive is train mode. Rather than turning into an old fashioned train engine like the original, this version appears to be multiple cars long. It's basically some sort of sci-fi battle train with a big chunk of stuff in the middle. There are rolling wheels on the bottom that work for this mode.

#117: The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures - King Tut

King Tut was one of the more memorable villains from the 1966 Batman TV series, and now he's back in Pog LEGO form. I'm guessing all these lower tier villains are there mostly as a Joker induced distraction for Batman rather than having any major role, but it is cool that some of them are getting what is probably their first and only toy. King Tut is probably most easily found by feeling for either his staff or the snake. Either one is distinctive enough and easy to feel for that he is easy to find through the packaging.

#116: The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures - Orca

Orca is a repaint of the guy in a shark suit minifigure that was available recently. She's easy to feel for because she's the only minifigure with flippers for arms, and the big body piece has a dorsal fin and a tail. The "head" piece has the inside of a mouth painted on it, complete with uvula and tongue. If you swap that piece into the shark suit guy, you have just made a King Shark custom. A King Shark minifigure being made seems unlikely, so that might be your best bet.

#115: The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures - Lobster Lovin' Batman

I'd heard the street date for LEGO Batman Movie minifigures was the first day of the upcoming year, but I found some at Target a few days before Christmas. There wasn't a whole display, so I wasn't able to get all of the minifigures that I want, but I did get some of them. I had to get Lobster Lovin' Batman (as seen in the trailers) because I just love that LEGO Batman keeps his mask on, even when he's home relaxing in Wayne Manor. And he's wearing a smoking jacket-esque robe. The easiest way to find this one is by feeling for the platter, which is particularly large. The lobster is also a good way to feel for it.

#114: Transformers Titans Return - Mindwipe and Vorath

I don't know anything about Mindwipe, I don't think I've ever heard of him until I saw a picture of this toy online. But his alt-mode is a bat, so I had to get one. Robot mode is nice enough. It's purple and has bat wings, which is cool. He's got a gun and a shield with blades on the end.

Here's the robotic bat alt-mode. Interestingly, the wings fold up to form the lower legs of robot mode. It's kind of ridiculous looking, but in a fun way. The gun and shield can form into a little tank thing for Vorath to ride around in, or they can attach as a tail and Vorath can go in the chamber in Mindwipe's bat-chest. I think that's what it's for, anyway. It opens and Vorath fits. It's not mentioned in the instructions.

#113: Star Wars Droid Factory - Mickey Mouse Ears Astromech

The other Droid Factory astromech I got has a white, blue, and silver color scheme yet manages to look completely different from R2-D2. This one has a Mickey Mouse ears hat, which has the Jedi Order logo printed on it.

#112: Star Wars Droid Factory - Sorcerer's Apprentice Astromech

Friend of the blog James went to Disneyworld and got me a couple of the Disney exclusive Droid Factory astromechs. Remember when the Star Wars line did build a figure with droids? That's basically what these are, with the added extra of a special hat. They come in clamshell packages that can be re-sealed easily. One of the cool things is that you get to name the droid yourself, and it includes a sticker sheet so you can add the name to the card in the package. This droid is an astromech with a domed head (an R4?) in dark colors that make it look Imperial. This one has the hat Mickey Mouse wore in the Sorcerer's Apprentice segment of Fantasia, complete with Mickey Mouse ears sticking out.

#111: Star Wars The Black Series - Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader

Part of the fun of a new Star Wars movie is getting new trooper variants. I already got the Death Trooper, and here is one of other new Stormtroopers, the shoretrooper. Interestingly, the squad leader is the regular retail version, while the standard Scarif Stormtrooper is a Wal-Mart exclusive. Perhaps I'll be getting one of those later. These troopers have a different style of helmet , and their upper legs aren't even armored. But what really sets them apart is their color: Shoretroopers are way more earth-toned than any other Imperial force. The squad leader has some extra touches of color, with the blue on the shoulders and chest. It's a different look, and I like it. The shoretrooper is armed with a blaster rifle that I think (so far) is unique to it.

#110: Marvel Legends - Ms. Marvel

Possibly the most anticipated figure in the Sandman series is the newest Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan. She's still a very new character, but she has become very popular in a short amount of time thanks in part to the writing in her solo series, and due to the fact she helps fill a void in cape comics. It also helps that she's a really fun character. She makes for a nice looking figure, with a great smirk on her face. Neutral expressions on figures tend to get boring, while more interesting expressions can turn out looking horrible, but this is one done right. For accessories, Kamala includes a couple of swappable forearms to represent her Inhuman powers.

#109: Marvel Legends - Green Goblin

Next up from the Sandman series is perhaps Spider-Man's most iconic nemesis, the Green Goblin. The packaging doesn't specify which Osborne it is, but I'll go with Harry, since it doesn't have the pointy bit on the front of the glider. As I guessed, Hobgoblin was basically a pre-paint of Green Goblin. Naturally the head is different, and Green Goblin doesn't have a cape, but the gliders are different too. And GG has a painted pumpkin bomb rather than a translucent one. I haven't had a Green Goblin from the Marvel Legends line (it's been a while since they made one, and the most recent version was the Ultimate one as a build a figure), so I'm glad to have been able to add it to my collection.

#108: S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon - Sailor Neptune

I've been slowly collecting all the Sailor Scouts for a while now. Having already collected the inner planet scouts, it's time for my first outer planet scout, Sailor Neptune. When Neptune and Uranus showed up in the cartoon, I thought they were cool because they were more experienced and more handy in a fight. Neptune comes with the usual display stand, as well as interchangeable faces, even more extra hands than usual, and her Deep Aqua Mirror. She also includes extra arms to allow her to be positioned in her transformation pose.

#107: World of Nintendo - Metroid

Last year for Christmas, I got the larger metroid figure, and now close to the end of the year, I found the newer small version. I feel like I could throw in a joke about how soul sucking 2016 has been here. This version is about an inch and a half high, does not have articulated mandibles, and includes a little hover stand. It's pretty basic, but it looks good and does what it needs to do.

#106: Marvel Legends Series (12 inch) - Iron Man

I've been curious about these new 12 inch Marvel Legends figures, but not quite enough to drop fifty bucks. But for Black Friday I was able to get one for less than the cost of a standard Marvel Legends figure, and that was a deal I couldn't resist. I'll probably be too cheap to ever get a Hot Toys version of Iron Man, so this is a nicely way cheaper alternative. It's actually in a pretty close scale, as it's almost exactly the same height as my Hot Toys Captain America. So this is basically a sized up Marvel Legends figure, and it turned out really well. It looks really cool, and has a nice heft to it. There are a couple repulsor blasts that can plug into the hands, as well as alternate fists, and an unmasked Tony Stark head. This is a comic figure rather than a movie figure, so it's not a Robert Downey Jr likeness. My favorite part of the figure is the arc reactor. It's an actual three dimensional sculpt covered with a flat piece of clear plastic. It's very cool looking in person. I actually ended up liking this figure more than I expected, and may pick up the Spider-Man as well. Hopefully Hasbro continues making more figures in this sub-line.

#105: Marvel Legends - Spider-Man (black costume)

It's been a while since there has been a black costume Spider-Man figure, and this one is mostly an improvement. Aesthetically, this is a generally better looking sculpt, and this time around there is none of that annoying blue shading on the black parts of the costume. And it has the ridiculously oversized eyes that I am fond of. The default hands are fists, and there is a pair of swappable climbing hands. Unfortunately, this Spider-Man is packaged in a bit of an action pose, which leads to the legs being bent outwards at a painful looking angle. So I'm going to need to straighten those out.

#104: Marvel Legends - Shocker

Shocker isn't exactly the most high profile of Spider-Man's foes, but he is apparently going to be in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, so that should put him more in the public eye. Now I haven't exactly been keeping up with the comics, but I think this is a newer version of the costume that I'm used to. It still has all the kind of goofy yellow padding, which is the important part. I don't know if it's just my particular figure, or it's the way they all are, but one of Shocker's eyes is larger than the other. As far as I know Shocker doesn't have a Deadpool (or Spidey to a lesser extent) style expressive mask, so it is probably a weird manufacturing defect. Shocker also includes two effect pieces to represent the shock blasts from his gauntlets. I think these are the same effects pieces that were previously used for Havok.

#103: Marvel Legends Civil War - Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man

Civil War brought the much anticipated arrival of Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not surprisingly, Hasbro made a Marvel Legends figure of him. Annoyingly, he was only available in this three pack with battle damage variants of Captain America and Iron Man. I resolved that even though I wanted the Spidey figure, I wouldn't buy this unless I found it for half price or less. For whatever reason, Amazon had it marked down randomly early in November, so I went for it. Spidey is appropriately short here and has all the typical articulation we see on modern Spider-Man figures. Cap is a repaint of the same figure we've been getting since the Winter Soldier days, with the same unmasked head that looks nothing like Chris Evans. The weathering on the shield is very cool looking, though. Iron Man has removable repulsor blasts for his hands and feet, as well as an unmasked head that actually looks like Robert Downey Jr. At full price, this is a decent set if you don't already have the standard versions of Cap and Iron Man, but at half price, this was a pretty great deal.

#102: Star Wars The Black Series - Director Krennic

Krennic turned out to be an interesting antagonist because he's more of a banal evil than we usually get in Star Wars. More ambitious bureaucrat than evil despot, he's a perfect Imperial. And he wears a cape and has a personal squad of Death Trooper bodyguards, so he definitely looks cool. There was some supposition that he was a Grand Admiral based on his white costume, although that turned out not to be true. As the first Imperial officer in this scale, there is definitely some potential for repaints/retools in the future, and this is a good figure to base those on. The cape is removable, which is good because it definitely gets in the way of the arms. There have been some soft goods in this line, and I think this would have been a good opportunity to use them again. But it is a cool looking cape. Krennic's other accessory is a blaster, which can be holstered on his belt.

#101: Star Wars The Black Series - C-3PO (Resistance Base)

Finally, the six inch scale Artoo gets a C-3PO to go with him, although for whatever reason the main retail version is the Force Awakens version. There is a classic trilogy version with silver leg, but that's a Walgreens exclusive. But I'm glad to finally get Goldenrod himself in this scale. It's a good looking Threepio, but the articulation really bugs me. For the most part, it's good. But the arms. The arms! They're sculpted with the pistons, so bonus points for accuracy, but that means that there is no elbow articulation at all. So the arms are stuck kind of awkwardly hanging no matter how you position them. While I suppose that the actual costume was pretty stiff, it would have been nice to have at least some elbow movement.

#100: Marvel Legends Civil War - Giant Man

A Giant Man build a figure is a no brainer, and definitely one I was interested in completing. Sadly, there was only one figure in the entire series that I was interested in. Since I had a leg, I looked into buying the individual pieces to completing him, but it turned out to be cheaper to just buy one that was already complete. Giant Man is pretty big, but not a return to the glory days of the Sentinel and Galactus build a figures from years ago. He's about 10 or 11 inches tall, which probably makes him one of the tallest build a figures of recent years. I think the thing I like best about Giant Man is that they used translucent plastic for the lenses, so you can see the eyes behind them.

#99: Marvel Legends Civil War - Scarlet Witch

Hasbro waited until Scarlet Witch's second appearance to give her a Marvel Legends figure (hey, maybe Nebula will get one for Guardians of the Galaxy, vol 2!). Naturally, she's been pretty hard to come by. I only got the figure by adding it to my Amazon wishlist and obsessively checking to see if there were any in stock at a normal price. This is how I get most of my harder to find figures, unless I order a full case. While I do like her Age of Ultron outfit, her Civil War outfit does look more like a superhero costume while still also looking like everyday wear. Well, club wear maybe. I don't think the face looks particularly like Elizabeth Olsen, but I suspect this is one of those occasions where the paint is the issue. There are a couple effects pieces that can fit over her hands.

#98: Star Wars The Black Series - Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha)

I would have bought the Jyn figure on Force Friday, but I had pre-ordered it from Amazon because it was cheaper than retail. Then they didn't get around to sending it until after Force Friday. Then the postal service had trouble delivering it to the Amazon locker, so it got returned to Amazon and they had to send a replacement figure. My first impression of the figure is how small it is. I don't have a Leia figure yet to compare it to, but I do like that Hasbro is willing to vary the height of figures based on the actors. It's not a great likeness of Felicity Jones, but with the costume is easily recognizable as Jyn. Jyn includes a blaster, and her scarf is removable.

One of the big topics of discussion before Rogue One was released was the apparently massive re-shoots that were done for the movie. One interesting way that shows is on the bio on the back of the box: "A highly skilled soldier in the Rebel Alliance, Jyn Erso is an impetuous, defiant warrior eager to bring the battle to the Empire. Jyn has little patience for debate within Alliance High Command, enough so that she takes matters into her own hands." Having already seen the movie, it's like they're describing an early draft version of Jyn. Hopefully the special features on the Blu-ray go into more detail about the earlier version of the story.

#97: Marvel Legends - Nico Minoru

I don't know anything about Nico Minoru's character at all. But a teenage goth Marvel Legends figure is probably the closest thing we'll get to a Black Alice figure to fill out the Secret Six lineup (if a Ragdoll figure ever gets made I will be very surprised). Either way, it's a nice looking figure, with some sort of magic staff thing, and an alternate left arm with a translucent forearm and hand. With the magic effects piece on the staff, it is pretty heavy, requiring a certain amount of balancing to get Nico to stand up while holding it. Fortunately she is wearing stompy goth boots rather than heels, which helps with stability.

#96: Transformers Titans Return - Twin Cast & Autobot Blaster

I've never had a Blaster toy before, but when I was a kid my cousin had one and I thought it was cool. Soundwave is often thought of as being super 80s because his alt-form is a microcassette recorder, but Blaster's boom box seems even more 80s than that. There have been a few Blaster toys in recent years, but I held out for the return of the classic boom box. Robot mode is basically how he looked back then, so it's a nice update.

Here's Blaster in boom box mode. Overall it looks cool enough, any my only complaint is the gaps between the central section and the speakers. Basically, that's so the torso in robot mode has a waist and isn't as blocky as the original. I think the handle was originally much wider as well, but that's not really a big deal.

Blaster's Headmaster is Twin Cast. There's a little tank/MP3 player thing that he can sit in, and Blaster's gun plugs into it. The tank thing fits inside Blaster's chest like a cassette. There are a couple of other Transformers toys sold separately that can fit in his chest as well. Not surprisingly, there is also a Soundwave that mostly shares the same mold as Blaster.

#95: Marvel Legends - Iron Fist

The Iron Fist Netflix series won't be out for a little while, but I figured I'd just buy the Iron Fist figure now and avoid all the rush later on. Sure, there was a rather recent Iron Fist Marvel Legends figure already, but I prefer the green costume to the white one. This Iron Fist is based on the Spider-Man body, so it's thin, well articulated, and has those cool shoulders with lateral movement. There are two sets of hands (all fists, of course!) included. There are the standard hands with wrappings around them. The other set are translucent yellow with a solid piece of plastic in the middle. I think that works better than just plain translucent plastic, as it makes it look like the fists are glowing rather than just see-through. Also included are flame effect pieces that can slip over his fists. Now I just need Hasbro to release a Power Man figure in the Marvel Legends line.

#94: Marvel Legends - Enchantress

So far as I know, Mattel has no plans to make an Enchantress figure for Suicide Squad. Coincidentally or not, Hasbro has released a figure of the Marvel character of the same name. She's the Enchantress I'm more familiar with anyway, so that's fine by me. I believe this is a slightly re-painted version of the Enchantress figure that was part of the recent con exclusive set that also included the Dormammu that is the build a figure for this series. Overall, it's a nice looking figure, with a fantastic smirk on Amora's face. While she has fairly long hair, it's sculpted in a way that allows for a decent amount of movement for the neck joint. Her accessories are two "magic" effects pieces that a few other figures have had, this time in a bright green. They look cool, and clip on fairly easily to her wrists.

#93: Marvel Legends Doctor Strange - Doctor Strange

For whatever reason, the regular Doctor Strange isn't the first numbered figure in the Doctor Strange series. That goes to what I consider the less interesting astral form variant, but I didn't get that figure, so here is the regular Strange figure. This is Doctor Strange in the movie version of his classic costume (he does have the yellow gloves in the movie, but only in the mid-credits sequence). Depending on how you define accessories, he has one or three. There is a mystical shield (or perhaps some other sort of magic) that he can hold, and both the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamotto are removable. There are also alternate hands posed in a magic gesturing pose. The Benedict Cumberbatch likeness works better from some angles than others. I think they went a bit overboard with the grey on the temples, though.

#92: Marvel Legends Doctor Strange - Karl Mordo

Hey, Rogue One just came out tonight. But let's talk about a figure from Doctor Strange, which came out last month. I actually got this figure in October. But hey, at least I'm only two months behind in my blogging now. Karl "not Baron yet" Mordo is one of the protagonists in Doctor Strange, helping introduce Stephen Strange to the mystical arts and guiding his journey. He's wearing a decidedly non-muggle costume, and armed with a staff. He's not the most exciting figure, but he was a cool character, and the figure looks good. I like the expression of faint disapproval on the face sculpt, it seems apt for him.

#91: Star Wars The Black Series - Rey (Jakku) & BB-8

Because I got the initial release of the Rey figure on the first Force Friday, I got one with somewhat unfortunate paint on the face, and a BB-8 with no weathering on the lower body, which contrasted poorly with the head. Later revisions fixed those problems, but I never got around to picking one up until the second Force Friday. As a bonus, she now includes Luke's lightsaber. So now I'm good on Rey figures, until they release a version of her in her Resistance outfit, or her Episode VIII appearance.

#90: Star Wars The Black Series - Kylo Ren (unmasked)

Also in the Rogue One wave available for Force Friday were a couple re-tooled Force Awakens figures. So here's my second Kylo Ren, this time with the unmasked head that I wish had just been included as an alternate head the first time. I suppose that they were trying to avoid spoilers then, so that is kind of excusable. So really, this time he should have had an alternate masked head. I do like the likeness on the face, he just looks so grumpy. And his hair looks ready for a shampoo commercial. Otherwise, this is the same figure, although the robes don't seem overly long like my first Kylo figure. Also, this time he gets two lightsabers, one ignited and the other not ignited. That's much better looking than the one with the removable blade that the first release had. The alternate lightsabers were in the K-Mart exclusive Starkiller Base version, so I'm glad they made it to this release too.

#89: Star Wars The Black Series - Death Trooper

My last Rogue One purchase from Force Friday is the new Stormtrooper variant, the Death Trooper. The Death Trooper was one of the earliest images revealed from the movie, although there was some confusion at the time whether it was even legit. Fortunately, it was because this is a cool trooper design. The all black armor is reminiscent of shadow troopers, and  the redesigned helmet and general sleeker appearance makes them look more intimidating than the standard Stormtrooper. The Death Trooper is armed with a blaster rifle and a blaster pistol. Instead of a holster, there is a loop on the belt that one of the blasters can fit in. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing these guys in action in a few days.

#88: Star Wars The Black Series - K-2SO

Next up from Rogue One is the droid K-2S0. Apparently he is a re-programmed Imperial droid, and it sounds like he might have something of the gleefully homicidal personality that made HK-47 so fun. He's very tall, and although somewhat top heavy he stands up well. I really dig the look, it's a pretty unusual design that stands out. There aren't any accessories which is probably fair enough. Droids don't usually get any unless they use blasters. Or they're Artoo.

#87: Star Wars The Black Series - Captain Cassian Andor (Eadu)

To show you how far behind I am, we are now just getting to my Force Friday acquisitions. Force Friday, which was over two months ago. Anyway, first up from Rogue One is Captain Cassian Andor (Eadu). I'm guessing Eadu is cold, because he looks like he's wearing a similar outfit to what Han Solo wore on Hoth. I guess that's Rebel cold weather chic. That this figure is given the (Eadu) designation leads me to suspect at least one more version of him will be forthcoming. I'm pretty sure he's one of the main characters, so hopefully this won't be a Constable Zuvio situation. Cassian includes a blaster and a blaster pistol, which can be fit in a holster on his side. Overall, this is a nice enough figure, and hopefully I like the character enough in the movie to be glad I bought him.

#86: Hot Toys Civil War - Captain America

Since Hot Toys figures are so expensive, I very rarely buy one. But it was inevitable that I'd get a Captain America since he is basically my favorite part of the MCU. Naturally it's a very good looking figure, Hot Toys rarely disappoints there. I really like what Cap's costume has evolved into in the movies. Basically it's his Winter Soldier STRIKE suit, but in colors that are based on his classic costume. The Age of Ultron version had the white part on the sleeves as well, but that became blue for Civil War. I think Cap is the only Civil War figure from Hot Toys who doesn't include a tiny Ant Man accessory. What he does include is a selection of different hands, two expressions for the masked head (the lower part of the face is held on by a magnet), an unmasked head, the broken mask of Crossbones, a display stand, and of course his mighty shield. The shield is made of metal (probably not vibranium, sadly. Definitely no adamantium as that doesn't exist in the MCU) and can be either worn on his arm or hung from his back.

#85: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Croc

Since I got all the figures from the Suicide Squad series of the Multiverse line, I was able to build the Killer Croc figure. I guess they don't want to print "killer" on something that goes in the toy aisles? He's a good inch taller than the other figures in the line, which may be a bit oversized in relation to the actual actors. But having him be larger than normal works for the character. Killer Croc is one of the few build a figures that has a variant. If you also buy the two Harley variants and the Joker variant (which are Amazon and Toys R Us exclusives), you can assemble a Croc with a shirt and hoodie on. I think that version looks pretty cool, but not enough to shell out for the three extra figures.

#84: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Batman

Due to my ambivalence about the standard Batfleck costume, I never got that figure from the BvS line. Turns out, that was a good thing because it was re-released for Suicide Squad, but with more accessories. I'm still not a fan of the weird texture, but overall it is a cool design. It's definitely cool to get a batsuit that's not all black in the live action movies. There are some weird metallic accents on the gauntlets and boots that I don't remember. Presumably they are there in the movie, and I just didn't notice. For accessories, this Batman has an alternate head with gasmask, handcuffs, three batarangs, his grapnel gun, and a smoke bomb canister.

#83: Batman Hot Wheels - The Bat (227/250)

I never found a Bat when the Dark Knight Rises came out, but looks like Hot Wheels has re-released it, as I found one recently. It's a nice reminder of what a truly weird design this is. Like the Hot Wheels Enterprise, this is one vehicle that would benefit from a stand. Ah well, it was only a buck, so it's hard to complain.

#82: Marvel Legends Spider-Man - Evil Adversaries (Hobgoblin)

Spider-Man has a surprisingly wide array of nemeses who fly around on gliders and have a goblin theme. Green Goblin is of course the most important, and Hobgoblin is probably the most prominent of the non-green goblin types. There have been a few different Hobgoblins (there was a BAF for a different version a while back), but this is the classic. I'm pretty sure that most of Hobgoblin's body will be repainted for the upcoming Green Goblin figure, which is pretty accurate to the comic look. For accessories, Hobgoblin most importantly includes his glider and a translucent pumpkin bomb. Fortunately, the glider is designed so that it can stand while Hobgoblin is on it. There is also an alternate Demogoblin head.

#81: LEGO Minifigures series 16 - Penguin Boy

The penguin boy is the other costumed minifigure that I wanted to get from this series. Not only is it a kid in a penguin costume, he is also wearing ice skates. It's pretty easy to feel for him in the package, because it's the only minifigure in this series with the winged torso. The ice skates are also pretty distinctive pieces to feel for.

#80: LEGO Minifigures series 16 - Cute Little Devil

While the first time I found this series, it had already been picked over so I was only able to get the banana costume guy, fortunately there was a re-stock, so I was able to get the rest of the minifigures I wanted from this series. I'm a fan of the minifigures in costume, and here is another one who is also a trick 'r treater like the skeleton costume guy. They both have different designs on their treat buckets, which is a nice touch. It's pretty easy to find by feeling for the wings or the pitchfork. Although really, the pitchfork looks more like a trident. Also since it's a child, it can help to feel for the non-articulated legs as well.
