#76: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Thor, Black Widow, Bruce Banner, Hawkeye

For whatever reason, Hasbro did not see fit to make figures of the new additions to the Avengers line up, and only released about half of the team to retail. Fortunately, this Amazon exclusive box set is available to help fill that hole. I never got around to getting the six inch Thor figure from the first time around, so I am glad to have this one. He is appropriately tall and muscular looking, with a pretty good likeness to Chris Hemsworth. Naturally, Mjolnir is included. Despite the stiff heavy cape, he stands pretty well. Black Widow is basically a re-release of the Winter Soldier figure. That was hard to find, so it will be a nice addition for people who never found that one. This time around, she only has one head, and a few extra paint applications to show her shock powers are activated. Fittingly, she comes armed this time with her shock batons. Her hands aren't really sculpted to hold them, but they can be coaxed to loosely stay in there. My figure came with her right arm not completely inserted, so after some fiddling and sore fingers I was able to get it fully inserted.

Bruce Banner is a figure that hasn't been made before as a Marvel Legends figure. Since it's just "guy in plainclothes" I can understand not releasing this one as a regular retail figure. His legs are somewhat warped from the packaging, but at least he stands. Hawkeye is basically a re-release of the first movie figure, but with a non-sunglasses wearing head. Hasbro couldn't be bothered updating to his new costume, I guess. Naturally, he comes with a bow and quiver. Despite Hasbro's peculiar marketing strategy necessitating this box set, I'm glad to have it to fill out my Avengers roster.

#47 Marvel Legends Age of Ultron - Hulkbuster

Finally, after assembling all the pieces from seven different figures (yeah, I'm only keeping three of them), here is the completed Hulkbuster. It's impressively weighty and pretty massive. The legs feel like they're solid plastic, so it won't have any problems standing up, although its big feet would probably have done a good job of that without any help. It's even a couple of inches or so taller than the Marvel Legends Hulk figures, so it's definitely conceivable that Tony Stark could take on the Hulk in this armor. The Hulkbuster even has a good amount of paint apps, featuring paint on the back side, which is more than some Iron Man figures can boast. Unless they come up with some really cool variation in the future, I don't think I'll need another Iron Man figure after this.

#44: Marvel Legends Age of Ultron - War Machine

The last figure from Age of Ultron to get the Marvel Legends treatment and released to retail is War Machine, part of the Hulkbuster build a figure series. It's basically a repaint of the War Machine figure from Iron Man 3. There's a different left hand, but more importantly, there is an alternate head with the faceplate up, leaving Don Cheadle's face exposed. If nothing else, at least Age of Ultron gave us figures of Iron Man and War Machine with open faceplates. He's still got the same posable cannon that can be positioned on either shoulder. Even though it's basically a repaint of a figure I already have, I figured it was worth picking up for the alternate head, and it doesn't hurt that I didn't have War Machine in the standard grey/silver color scheme.

#40: Marvel Legends Age of Ultron - Ultron

Rather than being a build a figure for the series of figures that included Age of Ultron characters, Ultron ended up being the build a figure for the Ant-Man series. Because I have been extremely lax updating this blog lately, you may or may not recall that I have Ant-Man and the Wasp. I actually bought the entire series at once, which was only the third time I was able to get something I wanted out from the stockroom at Target. So now I have some figures I don't want, which will probably end up for sale online soon. But anyway, Ultron. His characterization in the movie was a bit different than I was expecting and his face kind of weirds me out somehow, but at the end of the day he's a giant killer robot, which is always something I dig. He is appropriately taller than other Marvel Legends figures. He's mostly grey plastic, with some silver paint that is only on the front of his body, as well as some other highlights.

#22: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Captain America

Next up from Age of Ulton is Captain America. For whatever reason, only Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America are available as Marvel Legends figures at retail. For the rest of the team, you'll have to buy an Amazon exclusive four pack (coming as soon as its available to this blog!). I really don't get this kind of thinking. I'm just glad they'll be presumably be easy to find, rather than a store exclusive. And Ultron himself is a build a figure in a series with no figures from the movie. Ugh. Also, no Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver ML figures at all! Okay, enough complaining. Captain America is basically a repaint of the Winter Soldier figure. He has the same alternate hands and heads. The torso is a new sculpt, however. Unfortunately, there's still no way to stow his shield on his back.

#21: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Hulk

I already have the Hulk from the first Avengers movie, so I was thinking of passing on this version. Ultimately I decided to keep it. Basically, it is the same figure, but with the new stretchy pants. The head, arms, and lower legs are the same pieces, while the torso and upper legs are new. While the previous Hulk had one fist and one open hand, this Hulk has two fists. He's even more ready for smashing. The new leg parts have a texture on the pants, while the torso is very smooth. The arms have a more textured sculpt, so it is an odd transition. Also, the shoulders on this Hulk are a little narrower. I don't think I'd noticed it from the trailers, but Hulk's pants have an Avengers logo on each pants leg. Now we just have to wait for the Hulkbuster wave of figures to have the two square off.

#20: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Iron Man Mark 43

I haven't bought a movie style Iron Man six inch figure since the first movie's line. I probably would have bought this one solely for the build a figure piece, but fortunately I like the design. The Mark 42 from Iron Man 3 just had way too much gold for my liking, so I'm glad to see that the Age of Ultron Mark 43 scaled that back and has a better balance of red and gold.

The other big selling point for this figure is that Hasbro has finally included an alternate head with the faceplate raised, revealing Tony Stark's face inside the helmet.
