#113: Marvel Legends (Spider-Man Homecoming) - Vulture's Flight Gear

I finished collecting all theses pieces a little while ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting about it. Otherwise, I am almost completely caught up with my blogging, with only entries I purchased this month left to get to. So, the thing about the Vulture's wings is that they have a massive wingspan. There's no way they could have released this as a standard solo carded figure without coming up with a new pricepoint. So it does make some sense to have the wings be the build a figure for this series. I think this is the second version of the Vulture's wings, which he uses for the heist in the climax of the movie.

#67: Marvel Legends (Spider-Man Homecoming) - Spider-Man (homemade costume)

According to the packaging, this is just Spider-Man, with no mention of which costume this is. I never thought I'd see the Ben Reilly costume in a movie, but making a color inverted version of it Spidey's original homemade costume was a stroke of genius. I like that it's basically just a sweatsuit. Like the other movie Spidey, this has swappable fists and "thwip" hands. There's only one head, but there are two hood pieces, so it can be worn up or down. And that should be it for Spider-Man figures, for a while. Oh, there's the big one...

#66: Marvel Legends (Spider-Man Homecoming) - Spider-Man

So, inevitably, there is a movie Spider-Man figure for the recent movie. Which renders the Civil War version moot, especially given the earlier figure's inaccuracies. Ah well. This version is generally improved, and includes a piece of Vulture's wings. Spidey has swappable fists and "thwip-ing" hands, as well as two different heads. One with larger eyes and one with squinty eyes. If nothing else, incorporating Spidey's shifting eye size into movie canon is pretty damn cool. This version also uses the underarm webbing, which I think is a first for Marvel Legends figures, since the first appearance Spider-Man figure from years ago. Here, they are plastic pieces that plug into the undersides of the arms. They look cool enough, but only when the arms are in a set position. They're also not super secure. I'm sure there will be more Spider-Man figures in the upcoming years, but unless they do something radically different (symbiote suit?), this will probably be good enough for me.

#39: Marvel Legends Spider-Man Homecoming - Vulture

Even though Spider-Man is on his second cinematic reboot, more Spider-Man movies means more chances to see different villains for him to fight (hopefully they don't bring back Green Goblin again too soon). Spider-Man has arguably the best collection of foes in comics, so I'm looking forward to seeing the classic villain the Vulture on the big screen. Casting Michael Keaton was a great touch, and he gets to join the select club of actors to have been in both DC and Marvel movies in major roles. The most striking thing about this figure is that Vulture is missing his defining characteristic: his wings. They are pretty massive, and serve as the build-a-figure for this series of figures. But the central part of the wings is included with Vulture. There's also a clear plastic stand to help bear the weight of the wings once fully assembled. While the live action costume is perhaps a little too "realistic" for my tastes, I like that Vulture retains the neck ruff by wearing a bomber jacket.
