#85: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Croc

Since I got all the figures from the Suicide Squad series of the Multiverse line, I was able to build the Killer Croc figure. I guess they don't want to print "killer" on something that goes in the toy aisles? He's a good inch taller than the other figures in the line, which may be a bit oversized in relation to the actual actors. But having him be larger than normal works for the character. Killer Croc is one of the few build a figures that has a variant. If you also buy the two Harley variants and the Joker variant (which are Amazon and Toys R Us exclusives), you can assemble a Croc with a shirt and hoodie on. I think that version looks pretty cool, but not enough to shell out for the three extra figures.

#84: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Batman

Due to my ambivalence about the standard Batfleck costume, I never got that figure from the BvS line. Turns out, that was a good thing because it was re-released for Suicide Squad, but with more accessories. I'm still not a fan of the weird texture, but overall it is a cool design. It's definitely cool to get a batsuit that's not all black in the live action movies. There are some weird metallic accents on the gauntlets and boots that I don't remember. Presumably they are there in the movie, and I just didn't notice. For accessories, this Batman has an alternate head with gasmask, handcuffs, three batarangs, his grapnel gun, and a smoke bomb canister.

#76: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - The Joker

Remember when the first image of Heath Ledger's Joker was released? There was a lot of backlash, but when people saw the movie, his performance became iconic. Jared Leto's Joker had the same initial skepticism, but for many never got over that. He certainly hasn't grown on me much, but maybe he'll do better in a Batman movie proper. Of the various Joker figures released for the movie, the standard retail version is the one wearing a costume most resembling a traditional Joker outfit. He's got a purple coat, anyway.

#75: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Boomerang

Like Katana, Captain Boomerang was sadly under-utilized in Suicide Squad. What there was turned out to be pretty entertaining, so I hope he shows up in the Flash movie with more to do. Oh, the toy is labelled as just Boomerang, minus the Captain. Not sure if that's how it was in the movie or not, but whatever, Captain is right there on his jacket. Also of note is that Mattel finally gets to reuse Bane's coat from the Dark Knight Rises figure a few years back. For accessories, there are three boomerangs included, and there's a holster on his side to hold one. I've so far found the Suicide Squad figures to be an odd mix of both stiff and loose joints on the same figure, and this one has a pretty loose ankle. So although he can stand, I think he'll be better served long term by leaning against something.

#74: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Katana

Katana is from the second wave of Suicide Squad figures, which you may or may not have seen in stores. I, personally, have not. Following her appearances in Beware The Batman and Arrow, Katana has made it to the big screen. She also appears in the DC Super Hero Girls, so this may be as Katana's most prominent time in pop culture. Sadly, Katana was criminally underutilized in Suicide Squad, but at least she gets a figure (sorry, Slipknot!). Katana's accessories are a long sword and a shorter blade, both of which have sheathes they can be stored in.

#65: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Deadshot

Adapting comic costumes to live action can be hit or miss sometimes. Fortunately, Deadshot was one of the better results. It's a fairly loose adaptation, but on the whole, it still feels close enough to me, while also looking good as a real life costume. Will Smith is a big enough name that it wasn't surprising that he spent a large amount of time with the mask off. So the figure has two interchangeable heads, so if you prefer your comic characters to keep their masks on like I do, it's got you covered. The unmasked head is fully painted, so the skin looks really shiny, which is somewhat off putting. Deadshot includes one pistol which can be holstered on his right leg. There are a few more non-removable weapons sculpted into his costume.

#64: DC Comics Multiverse Suicide Squad - Harley Quinn

So we finally have a live action version of Harley Quinn for the big screen (Birds of Prey got there first on TV!), and she is one of the most merchandised characters from DC there are of course action figures. Suicide Squad gets its own series from the DC Comics Multiverse line, although a couple of the characters are store exclusives. There are also Harley figures with her jacket, and in her party dress, but this is the basic one that's not an exclusive. It's an okay likeness for Margot Robbie, but she definitely does have appropriately crazy eyes. Unlike her DCUC predecessors Black Canary and Zatanna, Harley's stockings are sculpted rather than actual tiny fishnets. For a figure with high heels, she stands up remarkably well. Harley's sole accessory is her "good night" baseball bat.
