#27: Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Daredevil

I only bought this figure because the Daredevil Netflix series was so good. I watched the whole series in a two day period. Shortly after finishing it, I went out to do some shopping, and saw the new Daredevil figure on the peg. Given the timing, I wasn't going to look that gift horse in the mouth, so I bought the figure. Good thing too, it's a hard one to find. Daredevil is your basic figure where most of the costume details are painted on. His belt and holster are additional pieces, and his head is obviously a unique sculpt. The shin swivel on his right leg is one of the loosest I've ever seen, but it doesn't seem to prevent him from being able to stand. He includes one accessory in two parts: his billy club. It can stored in the holster on his leg in two parts, and he can hold them separately or as one piece. It's made of a pretty soft plastic and is already somewhat bent from the packaging.

#26: DC Pop! Heroes - Harley Quinn

Recently, my local Target restocked its Funko Pop! section, finally getting some Harley Quinn Pop!s in stock. Since it's the classic (by which I mean best) costume, I figured what the hell and decided to add it to my collection. This version of Harley features her holding a pop-gun, while there is another version with her holding her trademark oversized mallet. This is probably easily the cutest toy version of Harley that's been made so far.

#25: Transformers Generations - Megatron (Combiner Wars)

I never did get around to buying a release of Masterpiece Megatron, although it's always been something I've thought about. I never had the original Megatron toy, and it's always held a bit of mystique for me, so I'm usually interested in a Megatron that's G1 influenced. This new leader class Megatron definitely hits the right notes design-wise, in robot mode. The only things I don't really like about robot mode are the big backpack kibble, and that the arm with the cannon on it can't bend at the elbow because the cannon gets in the way.

Of course, this Megatron turns into a tank rather than a handgun, but I'm okay with that. It's a pretty cool looking silvery tank, and if I didn't know any better, I'd find it a perfectly fitting alt mode. The coolest thing about tank mode is that the treads are rubber and can actually roll.

#24: Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Thanos

I don't know whether or not Thanos puts in an appearance during Age of Ultron, but he's the build a figure for the wave that includes movie figures. Since there was only one figure in the wave that I didn't want, I considered it a good buy to just go ahead and buy all of them. That way, I could get Thanos, and just sell off the Spider-Woman figure, and call it even. This Thanos isn't the movie version, but he's not exactly wearing the classic costume that I think of. It's close enough for me, though. He's pretty solid, and taller than the standard Marvel Legends figure, although shorter than the Hulk. Unfortunately, there's no Infinity Gauntlet.

#23: Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Batroc the Leaper

I was pretty excited when I saw that Batroc the Leaper was getting a Marvel Legends figure. What's not to love about this extravagantly facial haired villain with the outrageous French accent (I briefly toyed with writing this post using such an accent, but decided against it)? Fortunately, he was released in this half-movie-Avengers-half-random-characters wave of figures, so his build a figure piece won't go to waste. Acrobatic fighter that he is, Batroc has double hinged elbows and knees, just as you'd hope. There are no accessories, aside from the build a figure pieces. It seems like the female characters usually include the torso, but in this case it is included with Batroc. The tip on the left side of Batroc's mask is a little bent on my figure. I'm not sure if that's something that can be fixed, but I'm okay with just imagining that it's the result of a resound thrashing from Cap.

#22: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Captain America

Next up from Age of Ulton is Captain America. For whatever reason, only Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America are available as Marvel Legends figures at retail. For the rest of the team, you'll have to buy an Amazon exclusive four pack (coming as soon as its available to this blog!). I really don't get this kind of thinking. I'm just glad they'll be presumably be easy to find, rather than a store exclusive. And Ultron himself is a build a figure in a series with no figures from the movie. Ugh. Also, no Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver ML figures at all! Okay, enough complaining. Captain America is basically a repaint of the Winter Soldier figure. He has the same alternate hands and heads. The torso is a new sculpt, however. Unfortunately, there's still no way to stow his shield on his back.

#21: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Hulk

I already have the Hulk from the first Avengers movie, so I was thinking of passing on this version. Ultimately I decided to keep it. Basically, it is the same figure, but with the new stretchy pants. The head, arms, and lower legs are the same pieces, while the torso and upper legs are new. While the previous Hulk had one fist and one open hand, this Hulk has two fists. He's even more ready for smashing. The new leg parts have a texture on the pants, while the torso is very smooth. The arms have a more textured sculpt, so it is an odd transition. Also, the shoulders on this Hulk are a little narrower. I don't think I'd noticed it from the trailers, but Hulk's pants have an Avengers logo on each pants leg. Now we just have to wait for the Hulkbuster wave of figures to have the two square off.

#20: Age of Ultron Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Iron Man Mark 43

I haven't bought a movie style Iron Man six inch figure since the first movie's line. I probably would have bought this one solely for the build a figure piece, but fortunately I like the design. The Mark 42 from Iron Man 3 just had way too much gold for my liking, so I'm glad to see that the Age of Ultron Mark 43 scaled that back and has a better balance of red and gold.

The other big selling point for this figure is that Hasbro has finally included an alternate head with the faceplate raised, revealing Tony Stark's face inside the helmet.

#19: Avengers Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Agent Coulson, Nick Fury, Maria Hill

Hasbro has finally fixed a glaring omission in its Marvel Cinematic Universe based line of Marvel Legends figures. Finally, an Agent Coulson figure! I've got a bunch of Mattel's figures of guys in suits, so Hasbro's is a refreshing change. Coulson's got a pretty good likeness, sporting something of a smirk. He's also armed with the gun he shot Loki with in the movie.

I'm also glad to have a Nick Fury that actually looks like Samuel L. Jackson. I have the original Ultimate Nick Fury figure, which predates the MCU. So although the comic character was drawn to look like SLJ, the figure just looks like a generic guy. It's mostly the same figure, and still has the issue with the arms not being able to go down very far. He's armed with a couple of pistols, each of which has a holster. They have odd blue stripes on the sides. I'm going to imagine that they're meant to be icers from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The last figure in this set is Maria Hill, who's basically a retooling of Black Widow. Unlike Black Widow's unattached holsters, Maria's are attached to both her leg and hips, which makes her leg articulation a bit more restricted.

Also included is an alternate head for Coulson. Deal with it.

When I first heard that this set was hitting stores, I checked out Toys R Us's website, and there was a listing for it. It wasn't in stock yet, so I signed up to be notified when it was available. The next day, I checked the website again on a whim, and the set was in stock, so I ordered it. I never did receive a notification that the set was in stock, and next time I checked it was out of stock. So the moral is to never rely on an in stock notification from the Toys R Us website.

#18: Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Spider-Man

It's been a while, but I'm back. I think that I went for almost a month without buying any new toys. But I found the new Spider-Man figure, so here we go again.

Okay, I think this is my favorite Spider-Man figure. Yes, it's another comic book Spidey (I actually only have one other in this scale), but he comes with the best accessories: a half-unmasked head and a slice of pizza. If you don't think that's awesome, then I just don't know what to tell you. This is from the newest wave of Marvel Legends figures, focused on Spider-Man and featuring Hobgoblin as a build a figure (Spidey comes with a leg). Spidey also includes a standard fully masked head, as well as a couple alternate hands (open, fists, and web shooting *THWIP* varieties). I'm assuming this is a mold originally designed for Spider-Man, but all the detail below the neck is painted on, and there is a hole in his back as if an accessory is meant to be plugged in. Either way. Best. Spider-Man. Figure.
