#39: Marvel Legends Spider-Man Homecoming - Vulture

Even though Spider-Man is on his second cinematic reboot, more Spider-Man movies means more chances to see different villains for him to fight (hopefully they don't bring back Green Goblin again too soon). Spider-Man has arguably the best collection of foes in comics, so I'm looking forward to seeing the classic villain the Vulture on the big screen. Casting Michael Keaton was a great touch, and he gets to join the select club of actors to have been in both DC and Marvel movies in major roles. The most striking thing about this figure is that Vulture is missing his defining characteristic: his wings. They are pretty massive, and serve as the build-a-figure for this series of figures. But the central part of the wings is included with Vulture. There's also a clear plastic stand to help bear the weight of the wings once fully assembled. While the live action costume is perhaps a little too "realistic" for my tastes, I like that Vulture retains the neck ruff by wearing a bomber jacket.

#38: Pokemon - Squirtle vs Charmander

Somewhat surprisingly, this is the first time I've had Pokemon toys to post about here. Thanks to Go and Sun/Moon, as well as my ongoing attempts to catch 'em all in Pokemon Shuffle, Pokemon has been taking up more headspace than usual lately. There are these two packs of little non-articulated Pokemon, so I went with two of the original starters, Squirtle and Charmander. The original starters are some of the most iconic Pokemon, and I usually pick the water type starter, so I chose this set first. Both Squirtle and Charmander have a small hole on the bottom of their body, as if for a stand. There are no stands included, but they don't need them anyway.

#37: Marvel Legends Series (12 inch) - Deadpool

Because Deadpool is having a surge in pop culture awareness due to last year's movie, he gets to be the fourth figure in the current 12 inch line of Marvel Legends. I was impatient, and got it when it was first available, but I should have waited because it is currently being marked down in stores. Oh well! Overall, this is a good Deadpool figure. There are a couple swappable heads: one battle damaged, and one standard. There are several different hands: fists, hands with trigger fingers extended, a burrito holding hand, and a thumbs up hand. And a burrito. I'm digging this trend of including food accessories. His swords are removable, and there are a couple of large guns and knives. Sadly, the pistols in his holsters are not removable. But that's not all that's included, there is also a second figure: Headpool. Headpool's propellor actually spins, and there is an included stand to keep him afloat.

#36: S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z - Perfect Cell (Premium Color Edition)

The Cell Saga of Dragonball Z is what I consider its peak, before the whole concept of the Super Saiyan became almost meaningless. So Cell is probably my favorite villain from the series. Since I missed out on the original release, I was glad that Bandai was re-releasing him in the premium color edition. Cell gets the standard alternate hands, and faces (I'm amused that to swap faces you have to remove the entire top part of his head), as well as a solid piece that replaces his arms so they are crossed. But he also gets something different:

A big effects piece! This is a very cool display piece, featuring an energy blast kicking up dust on the ground.

#35: Marvel Legends - Angela

Like Dazzler, Angela is one of those characters that I'm getting the figure more for the sheer incredulity that it exists than anything else. Originating in Spawn, Angela has been around for a while and has had several McFarlane Toys figures. But due to behind the scenes craziness, she's now a part of the Marvel universe (she's Asgardian apparently) and has a Marvel Legends figure. I think the figure is an entirely new sculpt, the only parts that look like they could have potentially been reused are her lower torso and upper thighs. For accessories, she gets two bladed weapons of some sort and a sword, which can be sheathed. Her hair is pretty massive and makes her a little back heavy. Fortunately, she's not wearing heels, so getting her steady isn't too difficult.

#34: Star Wars The Black Series - Imperial AT-ACT Driver

I haven't been able to find the Baze and Chirrut figures yet, but in the meantime there's the Target exclusive AT-ACT driver. I definitely remember the AT-ACTs in the movie, the AT-AT's weaker cousin, but not sure if any of the drivers appeared onscreen. Maybe somewhere in the background. Before I saw this figure, I would have assumed they looked more like an AT-AT driver. But they are just repainted Scarif sandtroopers. Go figure. At least they still look cool. The only accessory is a standard stormtrooper blaster.

#33: Marvel Legends - Colossus

After his appearance in Deadpool, Colossus is probably the most culturally relevant that he's ever been. So it's fitting that he get a new Marvel Legends figure. He's appropriately massive, and is sporting a modern costume that I'm not familiar with. Definitely an improvement over his original costume with the thigh boots, though. He has two interchangeable heads, one with the classic flattop, and one with a slightly longer 'do and a beard. Superheroes have classically been a clean shaven bunch, but I think the bearded look works surprisingly well for Colossus.

#32: Marvel Legends Civil War - Falcon

Falcon was really cool when he showed up in The Winter Soldier, so I was disappointed that Hasbro didn't make a Marvel Legends version of him. So when he showed up with a more comic inspired color scheme for Civil War, I was pretty glad that Hasbro was finally making him. I was less thrilled that he would be a Wal-Mart exclusive. Although I've never seen one at a Wal-Mart in person (except the one I saw which had been swapped out for a Vision figure and returned), I was finally able to get one from Amazon for retail price, plus shipping. Overall, it's a cool figure, with suitably big wings. They aren't articulated, but they plug into his backpack in a way that keeps them removable. There is a folded up Redwing drone that plugs into his backpack as well, and another version that is unfolded for flight mode. With the wings, it's not surprising that there aren't more accessories, but it would have been cool if he'd included his machine pistols as well. At last, my Team Cap is complete.

#31: Hot Wheels - The Dark Knight Batmobile (228/250)

I'm glad Mattel likes to re-issue Batmobiles because I never got a regular version of the Tumbler. I have the Dark Knight Rises version with desert camo, but that's way less cool looking than black. When they re-issue vehicles, they tend to slightly alter coloring, presumably to differentiate releases. So this version has red rings on the wheels, as well as red tinted windows. That's obviously not true to screen, but I can live with that kind of difference.

#30: WWE - Undertaker

Having always been interested in the supernatural, the Undertaker was of course a wrestler I liked during the small amount of time I was paying attention to wrestling. I first learned the word pallbearer thanks to his manager being named Paul Bearer. This version is from the same cheaper sub-line of figures that I got Sgt Slaughter from, so he only has swivel hips. Judging by the "Deadman Inc" on his pants, this Undertaker is from the early 2000s when he was doing some sort of biker persona, rather than the supernatural act I associate with him. My timing on getting this figure was pretty appropriate, as the Undertaker has just retired.
